Message Countersteering is the most important part. I had a similar story a couple months ago, except I going around a curve on a four-lane road. I was in the inside lane and as I went around the left-hand curve, I started to slide toward the outside, right side curb. I think I was already off the throttle because I saw the standing water, and knew I needed to slow down. I just countersteered into the slide and brought the back end back around while lightly braking to continue slowing the car down. Learning how to control your car during a loss of traction is one of the best things you can do, and a lot of fun. Never slam on the brakes, close your eyes and hope for the best.
